The National Council for Home Safety and Security released its annual report on the safest cities in each U.S. state. The Safest Cities Report examines each city’s per-capita crime data to provide state rankings and simultaneously features cities that have made strides to improve or sustain a safe environment for their residents.

Texas, for example, saw a 4.9% decrease in violent crime and a 6.0% decrease in property crime since last year.

Twenty-two miles northeast of Austin lies Hutto, the safest city in Texas

Texas’ 2nd safest city is Fulshear, a city whose population went from just 700 in 2008 to an estimated 13,790 in 2020.

The colorfully named Trophy Club is Texas’ 3rd safest city. Similar in size to #2 Fulshear.

Number #4, Colleyville, is an affluent suburb of Dallas renowned for its excellent public school system.

And Murphy, another wealthy Dallas suburb, fills out the list of Texas’ five safest cities.
