The Walker County Office of Emergency Management reports that as of 4 PM, Monday, August 17, that there were among regular county residents 845 active cases of coronavirus, with 577 recovered and six deaths.

Among TDCJ offenders in the county, there were 60 active cases reported with 2,020 recovered.

Among TDCJ employees in the county, there were 120 active cases with 300 recovered.

The next community test date is today and August 25, 8 AM to 4 PM, at the Walker County Fairgrounds, Symptoms do not have to be present to test. Registration will be performed on-site. A valid I-D is required at the test site.

The expanded free coronavirus testing program is underway now in the parking lot behind the Huntsville Memorial Hospital. It continues 4 to 8 PM weekdays and on weekends from 8 AM to noon.
