It was a nail biter to the very end on Sunday afternoon at Bowers Stadium for the Sam Houston Bearkats, coming down to a fourth down stop by the Kat defense, keeping North Dakota State from making a crucial score with under a minute to play, giving the Bearkats the win 24-20 over the Bison. Next up for the Bearkats will be James Madison in the semifinals on Saturday, May 8th at Bowers Stadium. The Bearkats are now at 15-0 in home playoff games. The pregame will start at 1:30pm with kickoff at 2pm, as Rob Hipp and Brian Adams will have the call on 101.7 KSAM. we’ll also have the special “In The Booth” video stream on the KSAM Sports Facebook page.
It’s on to the area round of the playoffs for the Huntsville Hornets softball team, although it took a bit of work Friday night. Huntsville was already up by one game in the best-of-three series over Texas High School, but they lost game two by 6-5 forcing the third game with the Hornets grabbing the win 7-3. Next up for Huntsville is Forney High School in the best-of-three series. These games will be played at Rusk High School starting Friday at 6pm, Saturday at 12pm, and if needed, Monday at 6pm.
The Huntsville Hornet Baseball team is slated to play later this afternoon at Kate Barr Ross Park as Jacksonville is coming to town; this game was postponed from last Friday due to weather.
